By profession I am a speech and language pathologist specializing in augmentative and alternative communication (AAC). I have worked both in the schools and private practice since 2003 primarily serving people with complex communicaiton needs (e.g., people who are unable to use speech as a primary means of communication). I believe very strongly that communication is a basic human and that all people deserve the right to express themselves to the best of their ability.
I founded the non-profit A Voice Discovered in 2012 to foster awareness about the benefits of AAC for people with complex communication needs and their family and support systems as well as to provide training and funding assistance for services, training and equipment for people who would otherwise not be able to access these very necessary services and communicaiton systems.
