Whether it's a home or a business, trust your move to Hilford Moving and Storage, like so many families and companies in the Ventura area have since 1928.
Whether you're moving in, out or just around Ventura County or even if you just need to store a room or two, Our history will tell you so much about how secure and comfortable you'll feel trusting your precious memories and possessions to our trained professionals.
In 1928 H. C. Hilford owned and operated a furniture store in Ventura to deliver the furniture he sold, he purchased a truck, one of the few in town. His customers frequently borrowed the truck when they moved, leading to his conclusion that a moving business was the way to go.
In 1947, Hilford Moving & Storage became an agent for Allied Van Lines, the leader in the national and worldwide moving industry, who, as a matter of interest, was also founded in 1928.
In 1951 daughter Helen and husband Don Christensen purchased the business with only three trucks and a rented facility. In 1966 steady growth saw the construction of a modern warehouse facility on Arundell Avenue to take advantage of the most progressive warehouse operations known at the time-most of which are still practiced today.
The company grew under Helen's guidance, leading to the construction of an additional warehouse unit adjacent to its Arundell Avenue location. Helen's daughter Sally is managing the company today.
Hilford presently operates 34 units, including tractors, trailer, flatbeds, bobtails, specialty units and service vehicles, all manned by experienced crews.
