Women Build 2025 Makes an Impact in Ventura County

Habitat Ventura Unites Community, Volunteers, and Sponsors to

Build Affordable Homes in Camarillo

[Camarillo, CA] – We hosted our Women Build 2025 event on Saturday, June 14, from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., bringing together over 80 volunteers, sponsors, partner families, and our staff at the Vista Campanario build site in Camarillo.

Together, we spent the day working side-by-side to complete interior painting on three of the eight housing units at our Vista Campanario development. This brought the dream of homeownership closer to reality for our families, many of whom actively participated, putting their own sweat equity toward their future homes.

Our CEO, Darcy Taylor, highlighted the community impact created through events like Women Build:

Don't look at today as just a day of painting. You are, in essence, changing people's lives. Long after we're gone, these buildings are going to be here, and people are going to be living in these houses, blessing families over generations. Habitat Ventura is not just about our organization—it's about the community and sponsors who make this possible.

We extend our sincere thanks to all our sponsors—Bank of America, AAA, Edison, HR Business Solutionz, Nichols Planning & Development, and H.O.M.E.—for making this event possible. Midge Campbell-Thomas, Ventura-Santa Barbara President of Bank of America, emphasized the value of getting involved and corporate support in addressing local housing challenges:

Homes are the safe place where families thrive, and that makes the community strong. Bank of America is very committed to Ventura County and has been supporting Habitat for Humanity for over 30 years nationally. It's always rewarding to come here, meet volunteers, and see firsthand the meaningful impact these homes have in our community.

Women Build 2025 demonstrated the difference a single day of collaboration can make—not only for the eight families moving into Vista Campanario but also by building lasting support that enables us to help even more families in our county through affordable homeownership programs and critical safety home repairs.

About Habitat for Humanity of Ventura County

Building strength, stability, and self-reliance through shelter.

Habitat for Humanity of Ventura County is a locally-run and locally-funded affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International. Over the past 41 years, 77 new home builds have provided homeownership opportunities for families in need and hundreds of homes have been repaired, providing a safe, decent living environment for low-income homeowners. The Habitat Home Repair program partners with low-income homeowners to improve their living conditions through home repairs. At Habitat for Humanity, we believe that everyone, everywhere deserves a decent place to live. For Habitat’s new home program, low-income families are selected based on their need for housing, ability to repay an affordable mortgage, and willingness to partner with Habitat for Humanity. We offer a “hand up,” empowering families who are willing to work hard to achieve their dream of homeownership. Each Habitat for Humanity homeowner invests hundreds of hours in helping build their home and then purchases it with an affordable mortgage.
